It's Not What You Ride...

'It's not what you ride, it's how you ride it' has been a rallying cry since the beginning of Sideburn. I'm getting a bit sick of events telling me I can't come because my bike isn't the right age, or didn't come from the right country or this or that or the other. I don't fit in a neat, little pigeon hole and the people I like spending time with don't either.

'It's not what you ride, it's how you ride it' (INWYR, IHYRI) is the opposite of all these exclusion tactics. INWTY IHYRI is what the Sideburn classes at Dirt Quake are about. Whatever bike you have, there is a class for you on that day - Street trackers and street scramblers have a class; other road bikes have their own- the Inappropriate Road Bike class; choppers have another and racebikes go in the STUK Novice classes. Any questions, just ask. We want you there.

Entries have gone out to riders who want to race. Ask for yours if you're interested. And Dirt Quake Tickets are on sale now. Buy in advance, save money and get free stickers.

Back to the concept of INWYR, IHYRI, we had one of our favourite artists, Lennard Schuurmans create a new Sideburn T-shirt to remind the world it's not what you ride...

Lennard is based in Amsterdam, a professional artist and also the man behind the Bubble Visor blog.

The front print is a two-colour design - black and dark grey, the back print is a single colour, grey, print. The T-shirt is Natural colour, not white, Gildan Ultra 100% preshrunk cotton. £18 plus post - S to XXL. Go to the Sideburn Webshop to buy. Thanks G

What's the motif under the main illustration all about? Can't make it out.

Crossed open-end spanners (wrenches) aren't they?

It says 'It's how you ride it' then below that are crossed spanners, the same that is on the rider's vest. G
